Exciting news! We are RE-LAUNCHING our membership program offering on an all-new BEHIND-THE-SCENES platform of our archival material, resource library and original content.
We had recently moved our membership system from Steady to Patreon. This will be the place where you’ll get to see all our past work, learnings, mistakes, works-in-progress and the reality of trying to make your practice work and struggling through the creative process.
Because let’s be honest: there’s too much gatekeeping in our industries, and not enough collective capacity and infrastructure building for media and cultural production in service of racial justice.
In the spirit of supporting cultural practitioners and collectives at all stages of their career journey, we’ll be sharing our work-in-progress org dev toolkits that have helped us get this far. We’re also archiving not only the work we make, but how it’s made and who it’s made by. This new platform will also give us the freedom to develop experimental new ideas and media formats alongside you all and make space for imagining otherwise.
We’re sharing the precious Skin Deep recipes with you all because we want everyone to have a stake in and feel personally invested and connected to the work we do at Skin Deep. The expansion and overhaul of our membership program allows more people to do so, based on their own needs and capacities. Over the coming years, we’d love more of Skin Deep’s work to go global, so this helps us take things beyond London (& even the UK!)
As you all know by now, we’re not trying to build a media empire. The increasing privatisation of the media landscape constantly reminds us how important it is to create a sustainable financial model that allows Skin Deep to remain independent and community-led.
We’re here for not just a good time, but a long time – so we need the freedom to platform radical stories that won’t get airtime anywhere else and to produce the work that matters to our communities. No matter what, we always want to continue paying our contributors fairly, we never want to put stories behind a paywall, and we will always try our best to ensure events and magazines are genuinely affordable.
On our patreon, you will discover new tiers of membership – each with varying levels of access to archival materials, print magazines, behind-the-scenes content and some uncut Skin Deep gems.
